EES conducts research to inform policy narratives that drive equity-centered economic mobility for all learners.
Our work sits at the intersection of research and practice — centering the voices of learners and practitioners to develop narratives and policy solutions that create real, lasting economic mobility for students of color and low-income communities.
Areas
of Work
Designing Credentials for Equitable Economic Mobility
Credentials at community colleges and universities alike should result in economic mobility for all students regardless of students’ racial or economic background. EES is currently studying the features of non-degree credentials that create equitable economic mobility by gathering the perspective of program graduates, employers and college personnel.
Inclusive and Transformational Higher Education Reform
We believe race and family income should never determine who gets access to higher education — or to the careers and economic opportunities that follow. An inclusive change process is the linchpin for achieving equitable solutions for college level and state-level reforms. EES studies “the how'' of transformational change in higher education.
College Math Reform
Improved and equitable outcomes in college math can transform students’ college and career trajectories, advancing economic mobility for more individuals. EES studies instructional and structural changes that can improve outcomes in college math, and ways to scale effective strategies.

EES conducts research and facilitates learning with the goal of advancing equity in higher education.
Our work aims to reverse the erroneous narratives that underpin inequitable higher education policies. We harness the experiences of those closest to the work to generate the right questions, while centering the voices of students and communities most impacted by inequitable educational opportunities to find solutions that work for them.
